Giving Tuesday and the Canadian Mental health Association

Giving Tuesday

On Tuesday November 30th, we were excited to join the international initiative that is Giving Tuesday. GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, taking place each year after Black Friday. The “Opening day of the giving season,” it’s a time when charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for their favourite causes. In the same way that retailers take part in Black Friday, the giving community comes together for GivingTuesday. This year, 80 countries around the world participated. In Canada, over $43 million was raised online in 24 hours.

Nuknuuk Supports the CMHA

We donated 10% of sales from GivingTuesday to the Canadian Mental Health Association. Through their presence in more than 330 communities across every province and one territory, the CMHA provides advocacy, programs and resources that help to prevent mental health problems and illnesses, support recovery and resilience, and enable all Canadians to flourish and thrive. In taking this initiative, we hope to raise awareness about the importance of mental health. Our wish is to share this message with as many people as possible to financially support the CMHA and to let anyone who is struggling with a mental health issue know that they are not alone. We sincerely thank all our clients who helped to support this initiative.

Covid 19 and Food Security

The early months of the global pandemic caused hardships that many of us could never have imagined. As the world quarantined, businesses shut down and many people lost their jobs incomes either temporarily or forever. 65% of the nation's food banks were facing shortages and were struggling to continue to provide for the already existing 1.1 million monthly visits to food banks plus the additional new clients, due to the pandemic.

April 2020 - Nuknuuk Donates 20% of Sales

Seeing this crisis in our communities compelled us to act. In April 2020, we donated 20% of our sales to Food Banks Canada. We chose this charity because they operate on a national level but have local impact across the country by providing a variety of perishable and non-perishable food to Canadians. They provide national leadership to over 3000 food banks and community agencies who work with our neighbours to relieve hunger today and to prevent hunger tomorrow.

We thank all of you who supported us and who in turn helped Canadians nationwide.

Thanking our Health Care Workers

Covid 19 Crisis

The Covid 19 pandemic strained our health care systems in ways that we never could have imagined. Suddenly, our health care workers found themselves on the front lines of this unprecedented crisis. They almost universally had to deal with being understaffed and working extremely long hours, often without the necessary personal protection equipment.

Showing our Appreciation with Comfy Slippers

Our mission at Nuknuuk is to provide comfort from head to toe. We decided that the best way for us to say thank you to these devoted people was by providing them some comfort in the form of Nuknuuk slippers. We were thrilled to give over 500 pairs of slippers to health care workers at Santa Cabrini Hospital, the Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM) and Vigi Mont-Royal.
